Scientific Program

The SCI 2027 program has been designed to highlight the full spectrum of scientific research, ensuring a perfect balance between advanced training, dissemination, and networking, aiming to establish the event as the premier meeting point for the chemical community.

1. SCI Young (SCI Giovani)

A fundamental pillar of the Italian Chemical Society (Società Chimica Italiana), which will open the day on September 13th with sessions entirely dedicated to the new generations. A privileged stage for emerging researchers to present their work, exchange ideas, and build valuable collaborations.

2. Plenary Sessions e Medal Lectures

World-renowned scientists and recipients of prestigious awards will offer a broad overview of the frontiers of contemporary chemistry.

We are honored to confirm the participation of:

  • Feringa Ben (Nobel 2016), University of Groningen, The Netherlands.
  • MacMilan David (Nobel 2021), Princeton University Washington Rd., Princeton, New Jersey, USA.
  • Yaghi Omar (Nobel 2025), Tsinghua University, Beijing,China.
  • Anastas Paul, Yale School of the Environment, New Haven, Connecticut, USA.
  • Heck Albert, University of Utrecht, Utrecht, The Netherlands.
  • Imperiali Barbara, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
  • Lindsley Craig, Vanderbilt University Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
  • Macfarlane Dauglas, Monash University, Clayton, Australia.
  • Richardson Susan, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of South Carolina, USA.
  • Unwin Patrik, University of Warwick, Coventry, United Kingdom.
  • Van Speybroeck Veronique, Center for Molecular Modeling, Ghent University, Belgium.
  • Yates John R., The Scripps Research Institute LaJolla, California, USA.

3. Thematic and Divisional Sessions

The core of scientific dissemination and discussion will consist of 12 thematic and 15 divisional sessions, curated by the SCI Divisions. Through Keynotes and Oral presentations, specific branches of chemistry and the most current international topics will be explored in depth:

  • Sensing, Biosensing and Imaging
  • One-Health Approach
  • Chemistry and Life Science
  • Chemistry for Cultural Heritage
  • From Academia to Industry and Back
  • Chemical Education, Communication and Outreach
  • Artificial Intelligence- and Machine Learning-driven Chemistry
  • Safe and Sustainable by Design
  • Innovations in Macromolecular Science
  • Smart Materials: chemistry, properties and applications
  • Chemistry-driven Clean Energy
  • Frontiers in Catalysis

4. Topic Session: Chemistry meets Society and Industry

The final day of the conference will be entirely dedicated to the topic "Chemistry meets Society and Industry". This session will address global macro-themes and challenges that modern chemistry is called upon to solve, thanks to the contribution and direct participation of leading figures from the industrial and manufacturing sectors.

We look forward to seeing you!

We are ready to welcome you to a rich scientific journey aimed at promoting excellence and interdisciplinary dialogue. Get ready to experience an event that will shape the future of our discipline!
